Lyttle supports Safer Internet Day 2013

Alliance East Belfast MLA Chris Lyttle has endorsed Safer Internet Day 2013 which falls today, Tuesday Feb 5th 2013. There are two motions before the Assembly on internet safety. The first is a cross party motion calling for OFDMFM to publish a cross departmental internet safety strategy and the other is from Sinn Fein about the regulation of social networking websites.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “There are two important motions going before the Assembly today, both of which Alliance are supporting, on the issues of internet safety for children and regulation of social networking websites.

“It is important to raise awareness of the potential dangers linked to the internet and campaigns such as Safer Internet Day play an important part in doing this.

“I would also ask that all internet users consider the campaign’s slogan ‘connect with respect’ whenever they are online in future.”
