Alliance Mr Lyttle was speaking after the announcement of the expected jobs for the area over the next five years, with a further £395 million being invested in phase two of its development. It will see the creation of a hotel and further office space.
“This is excellent news which will be a fantastic boost to the local economy,” said Mr Lyttle.
“It is a great news story for the Titanic Quarter and wider East Belfast area, signalling to people the area is growing, both physically and economically. Its centrepiece, Titanic Belfast, is now an iconic building which has become a symbol of a new identity for Belfast.
“That building recently met its evaluation targets and was also awarded a number of prestigious awards. However, the Quarter is more than just that – it is an area increasing in its importance and prominence in Belfast.
“Titanic Quarter commemorates the past but also demonstrates what can be achieved with forward-thinking vision. Thousands of new jobs for the area is a show of confidence and one which helps raise the bar.
