Chris Lyttle MLA said: “It is great to see more and more people taking up cycling, both for leisure and commuting to work. It is a great way to keep active and can help reduce congestion on our roads.
“I am looking forward to this year’s Bike Week and would encourage as many people as possible to take part in the different events that will be happening across Northern Ireland.
“The outstanding success of the Belfast Bikes scheme has shown that the public appetite is there for cycling if the right infrastructure is in place.
“I hope that the 2015 Bike Week will be even more successful than previous years, and hope that it will lead to a further growth in cycling levels.”
