The Lagan Valley MLA stated: “At the moment all our schools left wandering what is in store for them. It’s up to the Minister to make this decision as a matter of urgency because the confusion is hurting our education system.
“This total uncertainty is absolutely no good for pupils, parents and teachers alike. A decision on the future of the 11 plus cannot come soon enough.
“Caitríona Ruane’s delay in making a decision on the 11 plus has created a vacuum in which speculation alone has existed. This speculation is doing our education system a real disservice.
“Alliance wants to see a fairer way of mapping out the educational path of our young people. We believe that choice is more important than selection. Any decision on our young people should be made at 14 because the person will be more likely to be able to make the right decision about their future.”
