Lunn pays tribute to Lisburn-born Marine killed in Afghanistan

Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has expressed deep sadness at the death of Lisburn-born Stephen Walker, a Royal Marine who was killed in Afghanistan on Friday. Corporal Walker of 40 Commando Royal Marines died after an explosion near a patrol base in the Sangin area of Helmand province.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “This is extremely tragic news and I want to pass on my deepest condolences to the family of Corporal Walker at this most difficult time.

“Corporal Walker was born in the Lisburn area and I am sure he will be very much missed by people who knew him when he was growing up here.

“Stephen achieved much during his life and it’s extremely sad that his family and friends have lost someone so important to all of them.

“The bravery of all our soldiers who serve the country must be recognised. It takes real courage and a strong sense of public service for people to put their safety on the line in their everyday work.”
