Lunn pays tribute at Remembrance service

Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has paid tribute to those who died in the world wars, ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Speaking after attending the Act of Remembrance Service at Parliament Buildings, Mr Lunn said he was pleased to see attendance from all traditions at the event.

“We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in two world wars and other conflicts. Remembrance Day is a time to acknowledge the courage of all those who fought and died on battlefields around the world.

“I recently visited County Wicklow and was struck by the impressive memorial there to Irishmen who fought and died in the First World War. It is encouraging to see the South recognise their contribution, and remember the bravery of the men who paid the ultimate price to face tyranny. Similarly, it was heartening to see those from different traditions attending today’s event.

“I hope this growth in interest is replicated elsewhere and will be shown by young people in particular, so we can all remember the sacrifices made. All should remember and none should forget that people from all backgrounds came together, fought and died to ensure we enjoy our freedom today.”
