Trevor Lunn MLA said: “I have written to the Belfast Education and Library Board to ask for clarification on what plans are in place to resolve this issue.
“It is absolutely disgraceful that this situation has been allowed to drag on for so long.
“Today a public petition registering this concern was presented to the Assembly. I fully support this petition and hope the Education Minister will now make resolving this issue an urgent priority.”
North Belfast spokesperson Nuala McAllister added: “Hazelwood Integrated College is a growing school that needs access to this extra space. The current pupils and the reputation of the school are suffering the longer this situation drags on.”
