Dickson welcomes update from Health and Justice Ministers on child sex abuse investigation

Alliance Justice spokesperson Stewart Dickson MLA has welcomed an update from the Health Minister Edwin Poots and Justice Minister David Ford on the child sex abuse investigation. It is believed that 22 young people in the care system may have been sexually exploited. Stewart’s comments were made following a joint Health and Justice Committee meeting that took place in Stormont.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “I am deeply concerned at the information that has been revealed in recent days about the abuse of young people in our care system. My thoughts at this time are with the victims of this terrible abuse.

“I was pleased that both Ministers were able to attend this joint meeting to reassure Committee members and the public that all lines of inquiry are being investigated and that the services for young people in care are being reviewed.

“I would also like to praise the NSPCC and Barnardo’s for the work they are doing with those young people who have suffered abuse.”
