Lunn glad there will be public inquiry for John Lewis at Sprucefield

Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has stated that holding a public inquiry into the planning application for John Lewis at Sprucefield is the right thing to do. He called for a public inquiry into the issue in the Assembly two weeks ago. Minister Sammy Wilson announced today that an inquiry would be held.

Trevor Lunn MLA stated: “I have called for a public inquiry on this matter for some time and I am glad that one is to be held.

“The Planning Service should be making the process as quick and easy as possible because having a John Lewis store at Sprucefield would be a massive boost for the economy of Lagan Valley and for Northern Ireland. A public inquiry brings everyone to the table including the objectors. It is the quickest and most democratic way to resolve the issue.

“Given the current economic climate, it is more important than ever that Northern Ireland can attract the big names here. There is no bigger name in British retailing than John Lewis.”
