Lunn disappointed at further delays to John Lewis inquiry

Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has expressed disappointment at possible further hold-ups in the John Lewis public inquiry process. His comments come as the inquiry was adjourned following a legal challenge from opponents of the scheme.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “This public inquiry has been a long time coming and it’s very disappointing that there may be more delays. With every day that passes, the opportunity to attract this major development is even more at risk.

“I would hope that the public inquiry could continue even though a legal challenge is ongoing and I hope that any delay would be minimal.

“When John Lewis eventually comes to Lisburn it will create many jobs and bring many new shoppers to the Sprucefield complex. It would be very sad if the opportunity is lost due to the length of time it is taking for the planning process to be completed. I would implore those who have concerns to let them be heard in the public inquiry which is the correct forum in the current circumstances and allow it to go ahead as soon as possible.”
