Lunn condemns ‘sickening attack’ on PSNI

Alliance Policing Board representative Trevor Lunn MLA has condemned an attack on the PSNI in North Belfast, describing it as a ‘sickening attack on the rule of law’.

Mr Lunn was speaking after a device was thrown at a police Land Rover in Twaddell Avenue late on Sunday night, which struck the vehicle but failed to explode.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “I am absolutely disgusted at this attempt to seriously injure or kill Police officers in North Belfast, who were simply trying to protect the local community. There can be no justification for this or any attack on the PSNI.

“Not only were the lives of officers put at risk, but the safety of others was placed in jeopardy. We cannot allow those who are intent on dragging our communities back to the past to succeed.

“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
