Lunn condemns pipe bomb at photographer’s home

Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has condemned those responsible for a pipe bomb that was left at the home of a press photographer in Mayobridge. Mark Pearce and his family, along with several surrounding houses were evacuated while the device was dealt with by the police and army.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “I utterly condemn whoever is responsible for this pipe bomb. There can never be any justification for any such attack on a person’s home.

“Freedom of the press is paramount in any democratic society and they should be able to report the news without any fear or intimidation. There should never be any attempt to silence the press through the use of violence. I would like to extend my support to Mark and his family.

“If anybody has any information about this pipe bomb then I would urge them to contact the police. The people responsible must be brought to justice before the courts.”
