Lunn condemns paint attacks on churches and Orange hall

Alliance Party MLA Trevor Lunn has condemned those who threw paint at five Catholic Churches in the Ballymena area and an Orange hall in the Upper Dunmurry Lane area in Lagan Valley. He said that the incidents clearly illustrate the need for the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister to stop delaying the publication of a strategy to improve community relations.

Trevor Lunn MLA: “These thoughtless acts are simply contemptible. We are trying to build a shared future based on respect for everyone and these types of incidents merely hurt the community.

“Northern Ireland has made much progress towards becoming a genuinely stable society and this progress cannot and must not be hindered by those who carry out acts like these.

“These attacks illustrate the need for the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister to produce their Cohesion, Sharing and Integration strategy urgently. There can be no more delays.

“Those behind these attacks must be caught and anyone who can help police with their investigations should contact them immediately.”
