Trevor Lunn MLA said “This is a damning report. People want value for money from their services and that means using proper contract practices. The public deserve transparency and clarity on what their money is being spent on.
“This follows the last debacle over mistakes in financial projections which led to the then Chief Executive Katharine Bryant stepping down. I believe that the experiences of the Public Accounts Committee shows that arms-length organisations like NI Water need extremely close scrutiny.
“There were obviously serious problems with the way NI Water were addressing the issue of contracts and what was happening appeared to be far from best practice.
“The sacking of these board members appears justified and I am pleased government is taking this issue so seriously.”
