Long welcomes Inner East shared future mural

A piece of artwork depicting a shared future has been unveiled in Ballymacarrett, East Belfast. The mural is the product of extensive cross-community work between the Inner East Neighbourhood Partnership and Short Strand Community Partnership. Funding for the scheme was provided by the Shared Communities Consortium lead by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and project management support delivered by East Belfast Partnership.

Welcoming the art work East Belfast Alliance MLA Naomi Long said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved with the production of this mural. It is a terrific example of how statutory organisations and local communities can work together on projects that promote a safer, shared and better future for all.

“The Alliance Party has made tackling the human and financial costs of division a fundamental priority and will continue to press the Office of the First and deputy First Minister to deliver the Community Relations Strategy that will help local communities such as this to develop vitally important shared future community work even further.”
