Naomi Long MP said: “I am totally sickened by the mindless and reckless actions of those responsible for this elaborate hoax device. It was clearly an attempt to cause fear and intimidation in the local community.
“There can be no place in our society for those who wish to use fear and intimidation as weapons.
“The vast majority of the public are weary of the recent spate of security alerts and bomb attacks, regardless of who is responsible. They do not want to see Northern Ireland return to the dark days of the Troubles.
“I would urge anybody with any information about this hoax to contact the police and help them in their work to bring those responsible to justice.”
