Long shocked by East Belfast racially motivated arson attack

Naomi Long has condemned those responsible for an arson attack on a beauty salon in East Belfast which the police are treating as racially motivated. A group of men forced the shutters up on the business on Castlereagh Street in the early hours of Tuesday, before pouring accelerant and setting it alight.

Naomi Long said: “I am shocked that this business has been targeted in this racially motivated attack. There can be no justification for such a crime.

“I would like to offer my support to the owners of this beauty salon. Nobody deserves to have their property targeted in such a despicable attack. We must make East Belfast and Northern Ireland an open and welcoming place to people from all backgrounds.

“Those responsible must be brought to justice in the courts, so I would urge anybody with any information about this attack to contact the police.”
