East Belfast Alliance MP Naomi Long has expressed sadness that Miller’s Bakery based at Heron Road in the Harbour Estate in the east of the city is going to close with the loss of 42 jobs.
Naomi Long MP said: “This is deeply worrying news and my thoughts are with those who face losing their jobs as result of the closure of Miller’s Bakery.
“This is an extremely difficult time for people and the loss of this company will hurt many families in the area. This is another blow to the community and comes on the back of other job losses in the area. This news makes it all the more important that the new Westminster government makes growing the economy its top priority.
“I would call on the Minister for Employment and Learning to provide appropriate support and assistance for people affected to help them find new employment or explore training options.”
