Long: Reassurances sought after cremation concerns

The Alliance Party has today held a meeting with Belfast City Council officials to seek reassurances over Council’s actions during Bobby Storey’s cremation at Roselawn on Tuesday.

Group Leader Councillor Michael Long said media reports that began to surface over the past 24 hours where “extremely concerning” as was the fact elected representatives had to gather their information on this from social media outlets.

Michael said: “The Alliance Party has today sought clarity around what exactly happened on Tuesday and whilst some reassurances have been given over our concerns, we will continue to engage to seek full clarification.

“This issue will also be raised with Party Group Leaders on Friday, where I expect a full report and explanation to be provided.”
