Naomi Long MP said: “I want to pay tribute to the excellent work of the RNID throughout their proud 100-year history. This is an exciting time for them as they celebrate their 100th birthday and their new name.
“I have worked closely with the organisation in Northern Ireland and raised the issue of hearing impairment at the Stormont Assembly, through meetings and a number of events. Also, as Lord Mayor of Belfast, I had the pleasure of being involved in a number of events with the local deaf community.
“The RNID have provided countless thousands of people with hearing impairments with vital support down the years and I want to wish them well as they change their name to Action on Hearing Loss.”
