Speaking after submitting her papers in the Newtownards Electoral Office for the May 7th poll, Mrs Long said:
“People have been responding to the positive Alliance message of hope and taking Northern Ireland forward, and that has been reflected in the warm reception we have received on the doorsteps.
“Unlike others, this is not a personal battle for Alliance, nor is it fuelled by ego. It’s about something much more important – the people I represent, who are taken for granted or used as pawns in the political games of others.
“I want to return to Westminster to continue using the seat to give them representation and respect. That’s what they deserve and what Alliance offers them.”
David Ford MLA added: “Beyond a doubt, Naomi is the best candidate to keep East Belfast moving forward, not back. Over the past five years she has shown that when Alliance promises to take Northern Ireland forward, Alliance delivers. She has established herself as a hard working representative, dedicated to representing everyone from her beloved East Belfast.”
