Ms Long said, “I very much welcome this decision to move to a public inquiry to consider the application to extend the City Airport runway, something which my colleagues and I have called for for some time. The Airport is an important employer and makes a significant contribution to the economy, both through business and tourism; however, it’s development must be carefully and sensitively balanced against the needs of those who live beside it and who are affected by noise and disturbance.”
