Long congratulates Police on East Belfast cannabis find

Alliance East Belfast MP, Naomi Long, has congratulated the Police following the discovery of a cannabis factory at a property on Wandsworth Crescent in East Belfast. The police removed plants and other material with an estimated street value of £5,500. One man was arrested. Police also seized cannabis worth an estimated £50,000 from an unoccupied property in the Greenville Road area.

Naomi Long MP said: “I would like to pass on my congratulations to the Police on the discovery of this cannabis factory. They have ensured that these drugs will not reach the streets where they could have done untold damage to the lives of people in East Belfast.

“The community is safer now that these drugs have been seized but there are other individuals who are intent on peddling these dangerous substances on our streets.

“The Police need the support of the public to take more drugs off our streets and to arrest those responsible for their supply and distribution. It is only with the help of the public that we can put an end to the drugs trade in Northern Ireland.”
