Alliance MLA Naomi Long has condemned those behind what police are investigating as a punishment style assault that took place close to the Comber Greenway on Tuesday night.
Naomi Long said: “This was a vicious paramilitary-style attack, carried out by those who are determined to maintain their illegal control over communities through violence and intimidation.
That they carried out this brutal beating in the early evening, in a popular, well-used community amenity, demonstrates how utterly brazen they are and that they have no respect for the local people or for the law.
“Those behind this attack are a danger to the public, a threat to local communities, and need to be taken off our streets and I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible and help them bring these thugs to justice.”
