Long condemns those behind bomb found near Alliance Headquarters

Alliance Deputy Leader Naomi Long MP has condemned those behind a bomb which was found in the vicinity of Alliance Party Headquarters in University Street in Belfast. The device was found overnight and a controlled explosion was carried out.

Naomi Long MP said: “The bomb found near our Party Headquarters was also adjacent to a residential area. Not only did it cause disruption to those who live nearby, but those responsible for it showed utter disregard for the lives of local people.

“This is not just an attack on one political Party, but on the wider community and on the democratic process. “It is reckless, but also futile. Over the years, Alliance has faced many threats and we say to those who wish to cause instability that such acts merely strengthen our resolve to deliver peace and stability and build a society free from division and prejudice.

“We will not be intimidated or deflected from the task the people have given us, which is to deliver a shared future for everyone.

“This is one in a series of alerts which have caused disruption for many people across Northern Ireland today and it demonstrates again that those behind these incidents have nothing to offer our community but destruction, disruption and misery.

“Anyone who has information on this or the other incidents should contact police immediately to assist them with their investigations.” ENDS
