Long condemns second night of violence in East Belfast

Alliance East Belfast MLA Naomi Long has condemned a second night of violence at the Albertbridge Road and Short Strand interface area. Up to 100 people were believed to have been involved in the second night of violence which followed trouble on Sunday night in which three police vehicles were damaged.

Naomi Long said: “It is deeply disturbing that there has been a second consecutive night of violence at the interface. I call for calm on both sides and hope that those involved will come to their senses.

“It is sad that this is happening during Community Relations week and it shows that the Executive must prioritise good relations.

“Again I ask those involved what sort of message does this despicable violence send out across the world’s media?”
