Lo welcomes driving test reform

Alliance Environment Spokesperson Anna Lo MLA has welcomed the announcement of a change to the driving test saying she hopes it will improve road safety. From 27 June 2011 those taking the test will have ten minutes within it of driving to a destination without instruction.

Anna Lo MLA said: “I welcome this reform of the driving test. Having some independent driving within the test will enable examiners to assess safe driving without instruction from them.

“When someone passes their test they are obviously allowed to drive independently, so it makes sense to test this aspect of driving.

“This is a positive development and I hope this move will help enhance road safety. We need to take creative approaches to improving road safety and I am pleased to see this change to the test.”
