Judith Cochrane MLA said: “There are some deeply worrying findings within this report.
“Our public finances are facing massive pressures at present and it is very worrying that there were cost-over runs in 40% of the contracts that this report examined.
“We need to ensure that we get the best possible value for money from consultants. It is vital that there is strong financial planning and that projects are closely monitored to try and ensure work is delivered at the cost originally envisaged.
“Consultants play an important role in delivering projects but it is essential that we ensure the greatest efficiency possible.”
