Anna Lo MLA said: “This issue has been unresolved for over 14 years, it is about time that we finally got a new regional children and women’s hospital, as there is clearly the need and demand for it.
“The current provision at the Royal is not adequate to meet 21st century demands. It was only ever meant to be an interim measure and not a long time service.
“I recognise that the health budget is under great strain but this new hospital is not an issue that is optional – it is a requirement.
“Too much money has been spent on reports and bureaucracy, is it not about time that money was now spent on actually building a new hospital?”
