Lo shocked at South Belfast knife robbery

Alliance South Belfast MLA Anna Lo has expressed shock at the robbery of an off-licence on Tates Avenue in the south of the city on Tuesday night. The man was being served by a member of staff and he produced a knife and demanding money. He then made off with a sum of money and cigarettes.

Anna Lo MLA said: “This robbery must have been an extremely traumatic incident for the off-licence staff. Knife crime appears to be so much more common now than a few years ago. It is becoming a real blight on many cities around the UK -it must not be allowed to become such a massive problem here.

“The police have been successful in the past with knife amnesties and I hope that they will continue to use similar schemes in future.

“I would urge anybody with any information about this robbery to contact the police.”
