Lo says Roads Service must see sense and access £25,000 grant

An alleyway in South Belfast has been awarded a £25,000 grant for its upkeep on the condition that it is adopted by Roads Service and South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has called for Roads Service act quickly to stop the funding being lost. The alleyway to the rear of Northbrook Street has been awarded by the ‘Better Belfast’ scheme to pay an overhaul.

Anna Lo MLA said: “This is a ludicrous situation. There’s £25,000 up for grabs to overhaul this alleyway, but Roads Service are stopping this cash from being accessed. This alleyway needs to be adopted by them before this funding can be awarded.

“This is a real own goal by Roads Service and we will keep the pressure on them until they see sense. £25,000 is a massive amount of money and it would be a disgrace if this funding were lost. The alleyway is in need of attention and this cash would help in its upkeep. It’s time that Roads Service took a commonsense approach to this issue.

“This is a great opportunity to clean-up this alley and give it a facelift, but Roads Service need to meet us half way.”
