Lo says report on Iris Robinson must be urgently published

Alliance MLA, Anna Lo, who is Vice-chair of the Assembly Committee on Standards and Privileges, has said that a report on Iris and Peter Robinson must be urgently published after a legal challenge was withdrawn.

The report investigated allegations made in a BBC Spotlight programme about Iris and Peter Robinson that was broadcast in January 2010. The report was completed in November 2013, but the Assembly Commissioner was not able to publish it due to ongoing legal challenges.

Anna Lo MLA said: “I am pleased that this legal challenge has now been withdrawn. In the interests of openness and transparency, this report must now be urgently published. When the Assembly Commissioner informed the Standards and Privileges Committee last week that he could not publish this report due to ongoing legal challenges, I feared that it would be left in limbo for a considerable amount of time.

“We have been waiting for this report for nearly four and a half years, there should not be any further delays.

“It is important that this report is published to improve the public’s confidence in politics.”
