Anna Lo MLA said: “It has been fantastic to visit Derry-Londonderry again and in particular the magnificent walls of Derry. Northern Ireland can aim high for our society by learning from what Derry-Londonderry has achieved in recent years.

“There has been so much positivity coming from the city recently. The City of Culture was an amazing success and a big boost to our tourism sector. It was great to see so many events coming to the city such as the Turner Prize and the all-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil.

“The Lonely Planet travel guide ranked Derry-Londonderry as the fourth best city to visit in 2013. While, the new Peace Bridge has helped improve community relations and break down barriers

“Last year, all sides in Derry-Londonderry were able to take part in negotiations around parading that resulted in a peaceful marching season last summer. I hope that groups in other parts of Northern Ireland will look to Derry-Londonderry as a model for this summer’s parades.”
