Lo says failure to secure venue for World Police and Fire Games opening ceremony causes uncertainty

Alliance Culture spokesperson Anna Lo MLA has said the lack of a venue for the opening ceremony of the World Police and Fire Games has created uncertainty. Her comments follow the news that Ravenhill rugby ground will be unavailable due to redevelopment work. The games will take place this summer which were awarded to Northern Ireland in 2007.

Anna Lo MLA: “I am frankly astonished that the Department of Culture did not ensure the availability of Ravenhill. We now have six months to find a suitable venue.

“This was our chance to show the world that we are capable of hosting such a large event, but yet we now going to be urgently running around looking for a venue for the opening ceremony.

“The Department must now take urgent action to recover from this embarrassing news.”
