Lo praises Employment Minister’s work to address economic inactivity

Alliance Employment and Learning Spokesperson, Anna Lo MLA, has welcomed the Employment and Learning Minister’s work to support the economically inactive enter and sustain employment if they voluntarily opt to do so. She was speaking after the Minister launched the ‘Enabling Success’ strategy with the Enterprise Minister.

Anna Lo MLA said: “High rates of economic inactivity have been a continuing feature of the Northern Ireland economy for several decades.

“This strategy to address this issue is another example of devolution in action as it is the only dedicated strategy in the UK to tackle economic inactivity in this manner.

“While there will be a number of people who will never be able to work due to the severity of their health condition, this strategy will help provide the support and advice to enable the economically inactive to enter and sustain employment if they voluntarily choose to do so. I would like to praise the Employment Minister’s work on this issue.”
