Lo outrage at pipe bomb in South Belfast

Alliance South Belfast MLA Anna Lo has voiced her outrage towards those who left a pipe bomb near the railway line on Fane Street, just off Lisburn Road. The army carried out a controlled explosion on the viable device on Thursday afternoon.

Anna Lo said: “I am outraged that this viable pipe bomb was left in such a dangerous position. The people who left this pipe bomb have no regard for the lives of other people. The only thing that they are offering is death, injury and disruption.

“There are a lot of children who would be playing in the area and they could have been seriously hurt or worse if it exploded. This device could have caused a lot of harm and damage and I am glad that the police and army were able to deal with it.

“This sort of attack is a relic of the past and that is where is should stay.

“If anybody has any information about this incident then they must contact the police.”
