Alliance South Belfast MLA Anna Lo has condemned those responsible for disturbances in South Belfast on Sunday night that was linked to flag protests. Trouble erupted on the Donegall Road after protesters attempted to walk to a bar but were pushed back by police. One officer was injured.
Anna Lo MLAsaid: “Everybody must unequivocally condemn this trouble. The blame for these disturbances lies solely with the protesters.
“The St Patrick’s day celebrations were a great success, so I am disappointed that a tiny minority were intent on trying to ruin the day.
“I would like to again offer my thanks to the police officers who put themselves in danger to protect the public. My thoughts go out to the officer who was injured during this trouble. I hope they will be able to make a full and swift recovery.
“If anybody has any information about this trouble then I would urge them to contact the police.”
