The alert began after a suspicious object was discovered on Thursday afternoon, with the Tesco store at Newtownbreda forced to evacuate.
Anna Lo MLA said: “I must condemn those behind this hoax device, whose cowardly actions led to serious disruption one week before Christmas.
“At this busy time of year those behind this incident have caused significant fear among the local community.
“I also must condemn a hoax device in Bellaghy County Londonderry, which has led to two areas of Northern Ireland coming to a standstill for a short time due to the actions of those who are unable to respect the rule of law.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
