Lo anger at QUB halls deposit issue

South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo has expressed annoyance that some students who were unsuccessful in gaining accommodation in Queen’s University halls of residence are having to wait a few weeks to have their deposit returned to them. She said that this could make life difficult for students as they have to find other accommodation quickly.

Anna Lo MLA said: “This could hinder people from finding other accommodation.

“I am deeply annoyed that Queen’s University are making things more difficult for some future students by saying they may be holding deposits of some who were unsuccessful in their bid to gain accommodation in halls for a few weeks.

“Once they find out they are not getting into halls they should be given their deposit back immediately. This is a disgrace because if they cannot get accommodation in halls they need their deposits immediately to allow them to find alternative accommodation.”
