Lawther condemns gang attack in Antrim

Alliance Antrim Councillor Alan Lawther has condemned an attack by up to 20 men who broke into a house in the Ashgrove area of Antrim on Thursday night. Several men were later arrested after the gang, some armed with baseball bats and hammers smashed a door and windows at the house. One man escaped from the house unharmed.

Cllr Alan Lawther said: “I am very concerned that such a large amount of people took part in this crime. I was appalled that so many people believed that they should take part in this attack.

“There cannot be any justification for carrying out a crime like this. I hope the police arrest and charge all those who took part in this attack.

“If anybody has any information about this attack then I would urge them to contact the police.”
