A man, woman and young child all escaped injury during the incident, after a shot was fired through the front window of the home. Police have yet to establish a motive.
Councillor Lawther said: “This is a despicable act. Those involved have shown a complete lack of respect or regard for human life.
“The whole community must unite to condemn this act. We must show those behind it that there is no room for violence of this nature in our society.
“The police have yet to establish a motive and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with the PSNI as soon as possible. Those involved must be taken off our streets and dealt with by the courts.”
