Two men, aged 18 and 19, and a 39-year-old woman were arrested following a search of a property in the Angus Street area. Quantities of suspected class A and B drugs were seized during the raid, with the female also held on suspicion of possession of a firearm with the intention of committing an indictable offence.
“I am glad the police have acted to seize both these dangerous drugs and weapon and praise them for their actions in ensuring they were taken off our streets,” said Councillor Kelly.
“Illegal drugs can have a devastating effect on those whose lives are blighted by it, and the firearm could have been used to injure or kill, so I hope this operation will send a clear message these issues are being taken seriously.
“If anyone has any information on either this or similar incidents, I would encourage them to contact the police immediately.”
