Councillor Kelly said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Mark and like many others I am sure this is the first of many major wins to come. Like most of Antrim, I was glued to the TV watching Mark overcome a very worthy opponent in Kyren Wilson.
“Everyone really got behind Mark with social media swamped with well-wishers and congratulations. The Top Of The Town Bar organised a fan zone for the final and many people booked tickets and flights on Saturday to get to the final.
“Everyone in Antrim knows the work Mark Allen does behind the scenes for local charities and are absolutely delighted that he has won this prestigious event and wish him well to go on and win many more.”
