Kelly condemns those behind Antrim security alert

Antrim Alliance Councillor Neil Kelly has condemned those behind a security alert in the town yesterday (Thursday).

The alert forced the closure of part of the Ballycraigy Road, after a suspicious device at a bus stop was reported to police. However it was declared a hoax around 10.45pm.

Councillor Kelly said the alert had caused unnecessary disruption to people in Antrim.

“I am disgusted by those responsible for this security alert. It is clear they had no respect for other people or the consequences of their actions. People

“The alert put pressure on police and wasted valuable resources and time in dealing with it. The vast majority of people have moved on and nobody wants to see these sorts of incidents in Northern Ireland.

“I would urge anyone with information about this to contact police immediately.”
