Cllr Neil Kelly said: “The people responsible for this burglary are callous and despicable individuals who obviously have no regards for the wellbeing of other people.
“My thoughts are with the victim. I hope he will be able to make a full recovery from the injuries he sustained. People should be able to live in their own homes without the fear of this type of incident taking place.
“If anybody has any information about this burglary then I would urge them to contact the Police. The people responsible must be urgently apprehended and brought before the courts to face justice.”
