He said: “This kind of behaviour cannot be tolerated and I’m really disappointed to hear this has happened in Antrim.
“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home and my thoughts are with the family involved, after what must have been a very terrifying experience.
“I want to recognise the fantastic community spirit that followed this incident, with local people welcoming the young family into their own homes in the immediate aftermath.
“The people behind this attack must not be allowed to strike again and I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
