Kelly condemns attempted carjacking in Antrim

Alliance South Antrim Westminster candidate Neil Kelly has hit out at those behind an attempted carjacking in Antrim.

The incident took place on the Greystone Road around 5.30am yesterday (Saturday). A woman was stopped at traffic lights in her green Rover vehicle when two males, one armed with a knife, approached the car and tried to open the driver’s door. The pair proceeded to kick the car when they were unable to gain entry. The female was left shocked but unharmed.

“This must have been a traumatic incident for the lady, particularly given one of the attempted hijackers was armed with a knife,” said Mr Kelly.

“This pair may well attempt to hijack other cars, so it is crucial they are apprehended as soon as possible. I would urge drivers to be vigilant, especially when in the same area as where this took place.

“I call on anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to call police immediately.”
