Councillor Kelly was speaking after the incident in Carnbrock Drive, which saw the front door of a home set alight around 10.50pm on Tuesday (June 24).
The occupants of the home, a woman and her three children, were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
“This was a serious incident, which is totally unacceptable and the family concerned are lucky they did not sustain serious injuries,” said Councillor Kelly.
“This criminal behaviour is not welcome in Antrim. I wish the family a speedy recovery and I hope they are able to move on from this ordeal.
“I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and contact the police, and I hope the PSNI are able to apprehend the perpetrators.”
