Dickson says Justice Bill will improve services for victims

Alliance Justice spokesperson, Stewart Dickson MLA, has welcomed the Justice Bill which was debated at the Assembly on Tuesday, declaring that it will make major improvements for victims of crime.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “The Justice Bill is a further step in the Justice Minister’s reforms to improve the justice system for victims as well as witnesses. As legislators, we have a duty to give them the best protection we can.

“The new statutory Victims and Witnesses charters will set out the services that are available to them, as well as the standards which they should expect to receive, something that victims have told us they wanted.

“These improvements, and the proposals to speed up the justice system, will make a real difference.

“This legislation is further evidence of Alliance delivery in Government and I am glad to see the Minister continue his work to build a fair, just and safer community in Northern Ireland.”
