Jones condemns threat against Belfast Deputy Lord Mayor

Alliance Belfast Councillor Mervyn Jones has condemned a threat that was made against the Belfast Deputy Lord Mayor Christopher Stalford. The Police informed him that a threat had been made by ‘criminal elements’.

Cllr Mervyn Jones said: “Politicians should be able to work on behalf of their constituents without the threat of violence or intimidation. This threat should be unequivocally condemned by all. This is an attack on democracy.

“It is unacceptable that a threat has been made against an elected representative. No person deserves this.

“If anybody has any information about this threat then I would urge them to contact the Police.”
